For many girls in our communities, menstruation is more than a natural biological process, it is a barrier to education, confidence and opportunity. Without access to safe and affordable menstrual products, many girls are forced to miss school, use unsafe alternatives, or stay isolated during their periods.

At Together To Get Her, we believe that no girl should have to choose between her education and her period.

Through our Menstrual Health and Hygiene Program, we train girls and young women to make reusable sanitary pads, provide menstrual health education, and distribute reusable pad kits to those who need them most. These interventions help girls stay in school, protect their health, restore their dignity, and reduce the financial burden on their families.

While we have reached many girls, the need continues to grow. Every day, more schools and communities ask for our support than we currently have the resources to provide.

# Five Sewing Machines, Countless New Beginnings

At **Together To Get Her**, we believe that empowering girls with practical skills is one of the most effective ways to break the cycle of poverty, promote independence, and restore hope. For many vulnerable adolescent girls and young women in our communities, access to education and employment opportunities remains limited due to poverty, gender-based violence, early pregnancy, school dropout, and other social challenges.

One of our long-term goals has been to establish a vocational skills training program where girls can learn tailoring and fashion design, equipping them with skills that can generate sustainable incomes and improve their quality of life.

We are excited to share a significant milestone in this journey. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our well-wishers and supporters, **Together To Get Her has successfully acquired five sewing machines** for our vocational training program.

This achievement represents much more than the donation of equipment. It is an investment in the dreams, confidence, and future of every girl who will sit behind these machines to learn a skill that can transform her life. Through practical training, the girls will gain valuable experience in tailoring, garment construction, and entrepreneurship, preparing them to earn a living, support their families, and become self-reliant.

The sewing machines have already strengthened our capacity to train more girls, but the demand for our program continues to grow. Many young women are still waiting for the opportunity to enroll, and we need additional sewing machines, fabrics, tailoring tools, training materials, and classroom equipment to expand the program and reach more beneficiaries.

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, play, and dream. Yet for many families raising children with cerebral palsy in Uganda, each day is filled with challenges that most people never see.

When Baby Grace a 5 year old was born, her parents looked forward to watching her reach every milestone. However, as the months passed, they noticed she was not able to sit, crawl, or control her movements like other children her age. After several visits to health facilities, they received a diagnosis that changed their lives forever cerebral palsy.

Since then, life has become a daily struggle. Baby Grace requires constant care, regular physiotherapy, proper nutrition, specialized medical attention, and assistive equipment to support her development. Her mother stays home to care for her full-time, making it difficult to earn an income, while the family struggles to meet even their basic needs.

One of the greatest challenges the family faces is nutrition. Due to her condition, Baby Grace is only able to take milk, making it her primary source of nourishment. Unfortunately, buying enough milk every day has become an overwhelming burden for the family, whose financial resources are extremely limited.

During one of our visits, Baby Grace's mother shared a simple but heartfelt request. Rather than asking for temporary assistance, she asked whether Together To Get Her could help the family purchase a dairy cow. Her hope was that a cow would provide a sustainable supply of milk for her daughter and reduce the daily struggle of finding enough to feed her.

Her request touched our hearts because it reflected not only a mother's love but also her desire for a lasting solution that would give her child a better quality of life.

While providing a dairy cow is one of the ways we hope to support this family, our vision goes much further. We are working to ensure that Baby Grace receives the comprehensive care she needs, including regular physiotherapy, medical reviews, nutritional support, assistive devices, hygiene supplies, and caregiver support. We also aim to help the family build a more secure and sustainable future so they can continue caring for her with dignity and hope.

At Together To Get Her, we believe that economic independence is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and vulnerability. Our Economic Empowerment Program equips women, adolescent girls, and other vulnerable groups with practical vocational skills, entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, and income-generating opportunities that enable them to build sustainable livelihoods.

This program area contributes to achievement of SDG 1. End poverty in all forms, SDG5. Achieve gender equality among adolescent and empower teenage mothers, and SDG 10. Reduce inequality amongst adolescent boys and girls.

At Together To Get Her, we believe that education and practical skills are powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty and creating lasting opportunities. Our Education and Skills Training Program equips children, adolescent girls, and young women with the knowledge, vocational skills, and life skills they need to become confident, self-reliant, and active contributors to their communities.

Through academic support, mentorship, vocational training, digital literacy, leadership development, and life skills education, we empower beneficiaries to pursue their education, secure meaningful employment, start businesses, and make informed decisions about their future.

Sexual Reproductive Health

Uganda is comprised with largely young people, over half the population is aged under 30yeras. These young people interact in many aspects of life including sexually, we therefore focus on building capacities of young people and integrated SHR/HIV widen their understanding and build their capacity to make informed sexual Reproductive decisions.

At Together To Get Her, we are committed to empowering adolescents, young people, women, and communities with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. Our Sexual and Reproductive Health Program promotes healthy lifestyles, bodily autonomy, and access to accurate information and essential services.

Through comprehensive sexuality education, menstrual health education, adolescent-friendly health awareness, prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), family planning awareness, maternal health education, and community engagement, we help individuals make informed choices, reduce health risks, and improve their overall well-being.

Gender Equality and GBV Protection

At Together To Get Her, we are committed to building communities where women and girls live free from discrimination, violence, and inequality. Our Gender Equality and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention Program promotes equal rights, opportunities, and participation while addressing the root causes of gender-based violence through prevention, awareness, advocacy, and survivor-centered support.

We work with women, girls, men, boys, community leaders, schools, and institutions to challenge harmful social norms, promote positive gender relationships, and strengthen community systems that prevent and respond to violence. At Together To Get Her, we recognize that healing extends beyond meeting physical and economic needs. Our Psychosocial Support Program promotes emotional well-being, mental health, and resilience among women, girls, children, survivors of gender-based violence, caregivers, and other vulnerable individuals.

We provide safe spaces where individuals can access psychosocial support, counseling referrals, peer support groups, life skills training, and community-based interventions that foster healing, restore hope, and strengthen resilience. By working with families, communities, and service providers, we help individuals recover from trauma, build healthy relationships, and lead fulfilling lives.

Our Child Protection and Disability Inclusion Program promotes the rights, dignity, and well-being of children, with a special focus on those at risk of abuse, neglect, exploitation, violence, and children living with disabilities.

We work with families, schools, communities, and relevant stakeholders to strengthen child protection systems, improve access to essential services, and promote the inclusion of children with disabilities in education, healthcare, and community life. Through awareness campaigns, case management, referrals, family support, and advocacy, we strive to ensure that every child is protected, valued, and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Advocacy, Research and Networking

With increased interaction between rural and urban cultures, the most vulnerable in this situation is the rural girl child who often falls victim to unwanted pregnancy, child marriages, and sexual exploitation. This is majorly due to lack of enabling community support systems for a girl child to pursue her dream or enjoy social and economic privileges as boy child.
Through advocacy, we position ourselves to tell the stories of rural girl child as part of a vulnerable, under privileged population that seeks attention. As an underserved population we call for their continuous support at this critical state of human development during which the stage is set for later life.

We advocate for the rights, inclusion, and empowerment of women, girls, children, and other vulnerable groups. We conduct research to identify community needs, generate evidence, and inform programs and policy recommendations. Through strategic networking and partnerships with government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, and local communities, we amplify marginalized voices, influence positive policy change, and promote sustainable solutions that improve lives and strengthen communities.
